Sunday Schedule and Adult Forum - September 2011

Holy Eucharist 8:00 am and 10:30 am

Adult Forum in the Fireside Room every Sunday at 9:15 am

For each of the Sundays in September we will be doing a book study of Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves’ book that  she co-authored with Bihsop Michael Perham from Gloucester, England: The Hospitality of God.  The book is a study of  emerging Anglican churches  in the United States and  in the UK – similar to the format of Diana Butler Bass Book Christianity for the Rest of Us.  Bishop Mary’s book will be on sale at the church, cost $18.   It is not necessary to have read the book to profit from the discussion.

“First Sunday” September 4th at 10:30 am with blended musical traditions, a cappella singing, and silent meditation as we expand our Anglican liturgy and tradition.  Kate Alm is our musician for the service.  The congregation is invited to come at 10: 00 am for rehearsal and learning the music.

The 12th Sunday after Pentecost (Ordinary Time), Sunday September 11th: We welcome back the Choral Scholars who join the congregation and choir. The Reverend Peggy Bryan will be preaching and celebrating at these services.  At 7:00 pm there will be the U2+2charist preceded by a spaghetti and pasta dinner in the Parish Hall at 5:00 pm.

The 13th Sunday after Pentecost (Ordinary Time) September 18th The spoken liturgy at 8:00 am and the classical  Choral Eucharist of Anglican music is our guide as we endeavor to know and experience the sacred and holy.

Taize Service – Third Sunday of the month, September 18th at 7:00 pm. The Taize service is an ecumenical service of prayer, and singing using music written by the Taize community in France. Taize is a Chirstian community that was formed by Roman Catholics and Swiss Protestants at the end of World War II, and has a mobile population of 5,000 pilgrims and visitors on any given day of the year. This Taize service is a wonderfully peaceful way to end a day of Sunday worship and begin a new week.

The 14th Sunday after Pentecost (Ordinary Time), September 25th:  the Reverend John Buenz will  be preaching at both services of Holy Eucharist and addressing the congregation during a pot-luck dinner following the 10:30 am service.  We will be forming groups of 8 people for “house meetings” that will begin in October.  All are invited to participate in a “house meeting.”  Our goal  is to discern and understand our identity as a church and a direction for our future.
